Chester-Le-Street United & Lumley Ladies Unite

Lumley Ladies First Team Coach Kevin Jackson & Chester-Le-Street United Chairman Lewis Pendleton

Chester-le-Street United are very pleased to announce that the teams from Lumley Ladies FC will move to play as Chester-Le-Street United for the 2021/22 season and beyond.

The move sees 9 youth teams join the Chester-Le-Street United youth section, with a new Chester-Le-Street United Women section being created that will encompass a first team playing in the the North East Regional Womens Football League and development and reserves teams in the Durham County League.

Along with our existing Under 7, Under 10 and Under 13 girls teams we now deliver a full football pathway for girls, from our Mini United toddler sessions all the way to the first team giving girls from Chester-Le-Street and the surrounding areas more opportunities to play football and to progress in the game.

Since talks began some months back it was very clear both Chester-Le-Street United and Lumley Ladies held similar views about the importance of youth development and creating the right environment to allow players to reach their potential. This along with the equal importance placed on coach development and delivering realistic pathways for players served as a great basis for enjoyable and fruitful discussions. We now look forward to working together over the coming months and years continue to grow and work to continuously improve what we do and how we do it.

We would like to place on record our thanks to David, John & Kev along with the Lumley Ladies committee for their part in this process and we look forward to being a part of all the players football journeys over the coming weeks, months and years.
