Chester-Le-Street United Performance Pathway and the birth of Park View A.F.C

Chester-Le-Street United Football Club is excited to announce its new performance pathway and the rebrand of its performance teams to Park View AFC from the end of the current 2024/25 season. This decision reflects the club's commitment to growth, community engagement and more transparent, improved pathways for players of all levels.

Park View AFC will become the pinnacle of our new performance pathway - offering young aspiring players a clear pathway into Park View Academy of Sport’s post-16 programme and into high-level senior football. It also better represents the significant contribution that Park View makes to the running of the Senior teams.

Park View Academy of Sport is regarded as the premier post-16 football academy in the UK.  Changing the name of the senior sides reflects the illustrious history of the Academy of Sport who boast of winning many national titles at the under-19 and under-18 level, repeatedly being crowned National Champions as well as representing England in two under-18 ISF World Cups (Morocco and China).

The changes will also see Chester-Le-Street United offering improved pathways for grassroots players through the creation of grassroots adult teams allowing players to continue to play adult football beyond Under 18s as Chester-Le-Street United.

"We are thrilled to unveil our new performance pathway and name, Park View AFC," said Club Chairman Lewis Pendleton.

"This change is not just about a new name; it represents our dedication to fostering a strong community spirit and providing a platform for local talent to thrive.”

“We believe that Park View AFC will resonate more with our supporters and reflect our ambitions moving forward.”

“However, my day job as Director for Park View Academy of Sport has partly led to this change as I feel it will resonate more with young players seeking to join our football academy providing clarity on how the two organisations have supported one another over the past few seasons.”

“Park View AFC will be the pinnacle of the pathway for aspiring players to come through Chester Le Street United youth section and the wider community into the college academy who then have a chance to play for the First Team"

John Gamble, Director of Football commented.

“Like Lewis, I feel it's the right decision as over the years Chester-Le-Street United, through our success on a Saturday has received all the accolades and it is all Park View Academy players and staff who represented Chester-Le-Street United.”

“We have been very proud of representing Chester-Le-Street United Football Club but now we can be known as who we are, Park View AFC. We have made great strides in senior football with a bespoke games programme and hopefully, this will carry on”.

Phil Cummings – Chairman of Chester-Le-Street United Youth commented:

“These changes should help the local community better understand the relationship between Park View Academy of Sport and the grassroots club. It also offers our young aspiring players the very best performance pathway possible while creating new pathways for players who want to enjoy playing football in a less competitive environment as adults.

“It’s something we have had a lot of feedback about over the last 4 years - “What is the post-18 pathway if you’re not an elite player?” - So, we explored and found solutions.”

“We have achieved a huge amount in such a small space of time but it’s important to keep evolving and we continue to strive to find the best possible way to deliver for the community and these changes will finally make clear our performance pathway and improve our grassroots offer.”

Our Pathway Model

We remain committed to delivering the very best for young players with substantial collaboration. This will see a pathway for participation, development and performance-related players.

Park View AFC will continue to compete in The Northern League and we would like to thank The FA and The EBAC Northern League for their assistance in this matter and the help they have offered as we make the transition.
