Disappointing Away Day For United's Women

by Jeff King (With A Huge Nod To Mark Goldsborough)

North East Regional Women's Northern Division - Sunday 2nd March 2025 Bishop Auckland 4 v 1 Chester-le-Street United

Chester's women made the short trip to Bishop Auckland on Sunday full of confidence to take on a side below them in the league table. In the end though it was the home side that took the win and the points in a dominant display.

It was a disappointing afternoon as United fell to a 4 - 1 defeat against Bishop Auckland, struggling to gain any real foothold in the game.

United found themselves behind early, conceding a series of poor goals as Bishop Auckland took full advantage of defensive lapses. Chester never really settled into their rhythm, and by half-time, the hosts had established a commanding 3-0 lead.

After the break, Chester le Street United showed brief signs of a fightback when substitute Poppy Alderson produced a moment of quality to pull a goal back, finishing brilliantly to make it 3-1.

However, any hopes of a comeback were swiftly dashed as Bishop Auckland restored their three-goal advantage shortly after, sealing a comfortable 4 - 1 victory.

A frustrating performance for Chester le Street United, who will need to regroup and sharpen up ahead of their next fixture.
