Will it be sixth time lucky? Is that even a saying? What is for sure is that United are looking to transform their home form in a big way. Five games and five losses at home was not what was anticipated at the start of the season.
In the first four of those games United played well and definitely deserved some rewards from those games. Tuesday night's 5 - 0 loss to Alnwick Town however was a different matter.
Let's hope performance wise that was a one-off and that United can finally nail down some home points in another tough looking fixture. Micky Nelson has hinted that their changes planned for the game's line-up so we wait and see.
The opposition, Bedlington Terriers, are always a tough team to play against and are usually there or thereabouts in the play-off race. Last season they did make the play-offs but obviously didn’t progress as they’d hoped going out to Easington Colliery.
Once again many thought they’d be challenging at the top this season. It hasn’t quite worked out like that so far as they currently sit 12th in the League with 3 wins, 3 draws and 4 losses for 12 points.
Their form coming into this game is not the best as their 3 wins all came in their first five games. Since then, they’ve lost 3 and drawn 2 of their last 5 including losing their last two in a row both at home. So, like United, they’ll be looking to bounce back from a midweek loss.
They have ten different scorers so far with Ryan Smith leading the way on 3 and no-one else including last season’s top scorer Matty Hayter having scored more than 1.
Kick-off at The Ford Hub is 15:00pm and we hope to see as many as possible getting along to support The Lads.
