It's the big one on Boxing Day. The first 'Chester Derby' of the 2024/25 season as United travel the short distance to Chester Moor to take on their nearest neighbours Town.
What a fascinating and much-anticipated game awaits hopefully a very big festive crowd. The teams are only separated in the Division 2 table by a single goal as they both have identical playing records. Played 26 Won 14 Drew 1 Lost 11 Points 43.
Town lie just one place above United though as their 43 scored and 36 conceded gives them a +7 goal difference. United's is +6 with 33 scored and 27 conceded. It could hardly be any closer and makes for a mouth watering Bank Holiday game.
Both teams go into the game in very similar form as well. Town have won their last four games three in the League and in The League Cup. They've scored 4 times in each of their last two league wins and 12 goals in those four wins.
United have won two in both Northern League cups (1 on penalties) and had two 1 - 0 away wins in the League. They've not conceded in their last three games either so similar form for both teams but achieved slightly differently.
It is also the first time the two teams have met this season. The return fixture at The Ford Quarry Hub is scheduled for Saturday 4th January. A very quick turnaround adding even more importance to the game and result on Boxing Day.
Town have had 16 different goal scorers in the League so far this season. Michael Gray leading the way with 7 then Kieran Hall and Kieran Beattie both have 5. For United it's Stephen Siyanbola with 9 and Charlie Loveday with 5 that lead their way.
Derby Day! No quarter asked no inch given as two sides that are both having decent season's clash. Local pride at stake and three vital play-off seeking points on both Team's agendas. Should be a Christmas cracker!
