Match Preview : United (H) v Boldon C.A. - Ebac Northern League Division 2 - Saturday 12th April 2025

by Jeff King

For the last time this season United are at home at The Ford Quarry Hub and everyone connected with The Club would like to say a huge thank you to Colin Stores and his team for all the help and support they’ve given us at ‘home’ this season. They have been first class!

The visitors on Saturday are Boldon C.A. and they will no doubt give United another tough test as all teams in this League invariably do.

They currently sit in 18th place with 41 points having won 11 drawn 8 and lost 21 in the League scoring 58 goals and conceding 86 but since the turn of the year have won more than they’ve lost and proved a handful for most teams.

Their recent run is not so good though having won one drawn one and lost four of their last six games. Top scorer is Robbie Gateshill who has bagged 13 league goals this season and 17 in all competitions. Kaue Foy and Liam Heywood having 6 league goals a-piece as the next best contributors.

Back in October United went to the Boldon Colliery Welfare Ground and came away with a very hard-fought 2 – 1 win courtesy of goals from Charlie Loveday and a Stephen Siyanbola penalty. They'd settle for more of the same today.

Officially after last week’s solid and professional 3 – 1 win over Billingham Synthonia United need one win from their last two games to make the play-offs which would be a magnificent achievement. Win today and then next week at Redcar Town next week and it mean they would finish an excellent 4th in the table.

But it has to be one game at a time and United will be looking for three vital points to take them into the playoffs with Boldon looking for revenge for the early season loss and looking to be party spoilers on the day.
