Match Preview - United @ Home v Newcastle University - Saturday 14th September

by Jeff King

Will it be lucky 7 for United tomorrow as the face 'The Uni' in their 7th league game at The Ford Hub. The previous 6 'home' league games all ending in defeat.

However, United did win at home this week when they beat Hartlepool United in the Durham FA County Cup. A truly fabulous performance one that the 4 - 1 final score was well attained and deserved.

But that game was at The Riverside and not The Hub! What Chester need to do now is find a way to lay their home bogeys to rest. They've had a fantastic few days with success away League wins at Synners and Jarrow to add to the Pools result.

What they need to do now is build on those three away wins in a row, look to make it four in a row and finally get the monkey off their back!

It won't be easy though against a Newcastle University side that are always tough opposition, always well organised and give nothing away. Plus only last week 'The Uni' came to The Ford Hub and thumped West End 6 - 1.

Clearly the location and the surface holds no fear for Neil Baistow's men as they look to improve on a 3 wins 6 draws and 5 losses record that has them currently sitting one place above United.

Newcastle having scored 23 goals in those games whilst conceding 26 as they've accumulated the 15 points they have so far and going into this game it's that goal difference that has them above United.

For United this is a great opportunity to consolidate their recent form and league position. A win would at the very least take them above 'The Uni.' Indeed a win and other results going United's way and they could even rise to 10th in the table.

Kick-off as ever on a Saturday at The Ford Hub is at 15:00pm and we hope to see as many supporters as possible coming along to support The Lads. #UnitedWeStand
