This should be a cracker of a game between two really in-form teams from the top half of the Ebac Northern League Division 2 kicking off at 3:00pm at The Ford Quarry Football Hub.
Ryton & Crawcrook are in fine form at the moment and have gone 9 games unbeaten in all competitions including The FA Vase and Durham FA County Challenge Cup. That includes, currently, five wins in a row. That’s a run that has taken them to 4th top of the table at the present time.
It gives them 35 points from 16 games played and their 11 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats have seen them score a healthy 31 goals and concede only 15. It means tough opposition for The Lads today but tough challenges is what we’re all about seeing them as an opportunity to learn and grow from.
The goals have largely been shared around The Albion squad but Abubaker Muhamed Salim leads the way for The Club with 9 netted. They have also made a big signing in the last week or so with Matty Hayton from Bedlington scoring on debut last week taking him to 7 goals for the season.
Also in their ranks is a certain Jack Ledger last season’s FA Youth Cup skipper here at United. A great lad it’ll be nice to see him back amongst us although we don’t want to be over friendly in welcoming him back!
Last time here at The Hub we crashed out of The FA Vase against FC Hartlepool 3 – 0. A disappointing day and result but one we didn’t linger over as we got back to winning ways immediately in The League at Billingham Town last Friday night.
That excellent 2 – 1 win with the winner from the much coveted Stephen Siyanbola was well deserved and meant we’ve now won 5 League games in a row one of our best ever runs in the Ebac Northern League since we joined three seasons ago.
Our league form has seen us rise to 10th in the Division having now evened things up with 8 wins and 8 loses to get to 24 points. It all means we’re looking comfortable at the moment in the League and hoping to keep the run going.
