It promises to be a cracker of a game at The Ford Quarry Football Hub on Saturday as Yarm & Eaglescliffe arrive to take on United. Until their last league games these two sides were the form teams of the Division.
United had gone into last Friday's game at Prudhoe YC Seniors on the back of 9 wins and a draw so their 2 - 1 defeat was their first in 11 league games. Even then their performance probably warranted at least a point.
Yarm & Eaglescliffe's league run had been even more spectacular. Until their 3 - 0 midweek loss at Billingham Synthonia they had won 14 and drawn 5 of their previous 19 games. An effort that had took them to the top of the table.
Indeed before Wednesday night Yarm & Eaglescliffe's last league loss was way back on the 6th August when they went down 1 - 0 at home to United. They will no doubt be looking for revenge and to get back to winning ways today.
A win would actually take them back to the top of the League once more as Horden CW's 4 - 0 home win over Chester-le-Street Town on Friday night knocked them off the summit.
Yarm & Eaglescliffe also have the top marksman in the League with Tom Atkinson on an incredible 27 league goals which is 14 more than his nearest rival Craig Linsel of Sunderland West End.
Meanwhile United's top scorer Stephen Siyanbola who has 8 goals will miss the game through suspension after picking up 5 yellow cards in the League. It could give recent signing Dominic Hughes an opportunity for his first start for United.
Kick-off at 'The Hub' where Yarm & Eaglescliffe played last Saturday in an unbelievable 6 - 5 win over Sunderland West End is at 3:00pm. Yarm & Eaglescliffe were 5 - 2 down last Saturday but scored 4 times in injury time to take the win!
A repeat of that drama would certainly give spectators full value for money today.
