Wearside League Division 1 - Saturday 24th August 2024
Wynyard Village 0 v 3 Chester-le-Street United
After a superb 3 - 0 home win in midweek against Belmont United, the Reserves were good value in repeating that score line on the road at Wynyard Village. An excellent win that lifted them into 6th position in the Division.
They have now kept two clean sheets in a row whilst picking up their third win in five games to give them 9 points and a plus goal difference of one with 15 scored and 14 conceded.
The goals for the Reserves came with a brace from Nathan Conroy who gave a strong all-round centre forward display and Harvey Lawrence who continues to impress with his flying start to the season.
In the absence of Head Coach Colin Wotherspoon it was ex-Manchester City legend and ex-Scotland International 'World Cup' Willie Donnachie who was in charge of United's reserves on the day.
His comments and thoughts post game were short and sweet but true to the point.
"I thought The Lads were superb today. They've still got a lot to learn but played from our throws, passed really well and made numerous chances. They really all did well hard but Dan Walton was our strong man when they occasionally got a corner or free kick and helped us in keeping a clean sheet."
