Wearside League Division 1 - Saturday 30th November 2024
Durham City AFC 1 v 1 Chester-le-Street United Reserves
A good point on the road for the reserves against a side who are 4th in the table and won 6 - 1 in the reverse fixture at The Riverside earlier in the season. United now sit in 7th place in the League
United however will feel disappointed not to have taken all 3 after dominating for the majority of the game. A host of missed chances especially first half should have seen the game out of sight before the half time break.
Defensively the CLS Utd lads were rock solid with Alex Clark and Dan Walton having a relatively comfortable afternoon in the middle as the home side who’ve had a run of good form recently rarely threatened our goal.
Durham City took the lead from the spot after a sliced clearance on the edge of United's box forced their striker to be brought down as he drove towards goal.
Good character from the United lads to respond 10 mins later from a Harvey Lawrence free kick which was floated to the back post and headed back across the six yard box for Walton to tap home.
On a very difficult pitch the CLS youngsters dug in and competed really well, worked hard and stood up physically in what was a scrappy game at times.
