Wearside League Division 3 - Saturday 24th September 2022
Chester-le-Street United Reserves 4 v 3 Roseberry Park F.C.
The Reserves made it three wins from three league games after they defeated Roseberry Park 4 – 3 in a thriller at The Riverside.
For the second week in a row United were forced to field an outfield player in goal which Liam Colledge who is normally a centre-back donning the keeper’s gloves and jersey. He did however come out of nets in the second half in a move that produced crucial.
With the game all-square at 3 – 3 Colledge was the man that provided a late winner for Chester and kept their 100% record in all official competitive games intact.
A result that was closer than many had thought but with injuries and unavailability United did well in the end to get a more than useful squad on the field.
Roseberry though gave them a tough battle all day and possibly felt they deserved a point from the encounter especially as United were not at their more fluent and committed best.
The visitors may well take some consolation in being the first side to score against United this season but they, like others before them, couldn’t stem the United forward tide which continues to deliver goals.
But as they say, a win is a win and Anthony Johnson’s young side continue their fine run of results that see’s them at the top of Wearside League with nine points, 27 goals for and only the three conceded in this game against.
Player of the Match was awarded to Josh Scurfield.
