Durham County FA Under-18s Saturday League - Saturday 14th December 2024 Chester-le-Street United 8 v 1 Cleveland Hall
A five goal second half capped off a five star performance for the U-18’s today as they got their just rewards for the hard work they consistently put in each week.
Shay Pye got United off the mark from a ridiculous angle 10 minutes into the game with a looping shot not far from the corner flag. Reid kept them ahead with a fine save five minutes later which he just managed to tip over the bar.
Harrison Price forced a great save from the Cleveland Hall keeper after being played in down the right from Bell on 20 minutes before the dangerous pairing of Beattie and Pye linked up well again just inside the opposing box for the latter to dink another over the keeper to put us two up on the half hour mark.
The away side got back into the game on 35 minutes with a great strike from distance before Linsley latched onto a clearance on the edge of the box to fire low to the left of the keeper and make the half-time score 3 - 1.
The CLS Utd youngsters then took their performance to another level in the second 45 with a devastating display of free-flowing attacking football.
White played a good ball into the channel for Connelly who found Beattie in the box and he comfortably slid the ball home from 12 yards to make it 4-1. Pye then squared to Beattie for the next goal on the edge of the box as he fired a rocket into the roof from 20 yards.
Bell got in on the action with a goal on 60 mins as he calmly slotted the ball home from from 10 yards.
United's next one was the goal of the game from a team aspect as Lambert in goal started the move from the back playing into Young and Moss who guided us up the field who with some classic two touch football from the back front ending up with Bell feeding Beattie at the back post for a tap in.
The final goal was scored by Bell at the second attempt close to the goal line after a quality corner from Hepworth.
Fantastic performance from these youngsters who showed great patience and composure on the ball today especially the second half.

MAN of the MATCH: Harrison Price - Top performance from Harrison in an unfamiliar right back position where he showed great desire defensively as well as also getting forward out wide to support the forward players in possession.
