Superb Reserves Hit Wolviston For Six

By Jeff King (With A Nod To Colin Wotherspoon)

Wearside League Division 1 - Saturday 8th February 2025 Chester-le-Street United Reserves 6 v 1 Wolviston

United's Reserves welcomed Wolviston to The Riverside with the Wearside League Division one clash being played on the 3G pitch.

It was United's 4th consecutive home game and they performed like we did in the previous 3 on the front foot from the off playing good attractive football, looking strong and aggressive out of possession and controlled the game when on the ball.

United created some early opportunities before Harvey Lawrence put them 1 - 0 in front with a great controlled strike from just outside the box. Continuing to knock on the door, Olly Dixon burst into the box and finished well to make it 2-0.

The half time score of 2 - 0 was the least United deserved with the amount of possession and opportunities they created. Although they were happy for half time to come as in the last 10 minutes of the half they got a bit sloppy in possession and dropped off a bit with the intensity of their press.

At the break Wotherspoon and Donachie reminded their players about both and got the reaction they wanted in the second half when Kymani Severin scored a brilliant 3rd to put the game firmly in United's favour.

He cut in from the left and smashed the ball from outside into the top far corner, Jude Anderson then got himself a quick hat-trick for just being in the right place at the right time from a lot of good work our wide from the lively Evan Cubby.

Wolviston scoring a late consolation goal that their never say die attitude probably deserved although from United's point of view it was disappointing to lose a clean sheet late on.

Overall though this was another very pleasing pleasing performance from the young reserve lads who once again showed when they work hard, compete and add the quality that this group has they are a match for any side in this league.

All 5 subs got good game time which was also pleasing for the group
