Durham Quakies 1 v Chester-le-Street Under 18s
Under the watchful eyes and astute leadership of Coaches Anth Johnson and Micky Barron the newly formed United 18s side continues to flourish and show both potential and ability after another great night's work.
This was a fantastic performance in tonight’s friendly for our U-18 team against a very good Durham Quakies side.
The Utd youngsters started on the front foot and had the better of the exchanges early on and were unfortunate not to be in front.
Quakies went 1-0 up as they grew into the game playing some good football which they continued early into the second half.
Anderson equalised before getting a second midway through the half with two great finishes. Solid defending from the back four along with comfortable handling by young keeper Alex Lambert enabled Chester to stay ahead.
The last twenty minutes saw some fantastic counter attacks as United soaked up some sustained pressure at times. The front three of Pye, Duncan and Hepworth were lively and became a constant threat as the game went on.
Under-16 Park View Performance Centre midfielder Carter Bell took the game away from the home side with a 25 yard rocket which flew into the top right hand corner.
As the game came to a close some intricate combination play on the edge of the box saw JJ Duncan finish neatly into the bottom corner.
